Unlike Learning World 1, 2, and 3, READY is based on a situational syllabus.
It is structured around scenes from everyday school life.
Students learn dialogues and vocabulary within each scene illustration, reinforce them through chants, and move on to self-expression activities.

READY covers essential English commonly taught in the early years of elementary school, such as colors, numbers, school subjects, and adjectives to express feelings.
Students efficiently learn foundational vocabulary through beginner-friendly songs featuring colors, numbers, the days of the week, the twelve months, and more.

The book consists of 10 units, each with a 3-page spread layout.
Please be sure to allocate review time after completing each unit.

Target Learners:
For students in Grades 2–4 who have completed Learning World Book 1, or for students starting English in Grades 3 or 4.

※ If students are beginning their English studies with READY, we recommend using songs and chants from the WELCOME series as warm-up materials for the first few months to help them get used to English.

■ Author: Mikiko Nakamoto
A4 size / Full color / Includes audio QR codes / 64 pages / Comes with name card and certificate of completion

▼ At the beginning of the book: [a], [b], [c], [d] Alphabet Song and four-line alphabet writing practice

▼ Each unit consists of three double-page spreads: A, B, and C (Image shown: Unit 4)
▼ A: The main scene illustration features a central dialogue (right page). Vocabulary is reinforced through a vocabulary song (bottom right).

▼ B: Two new dialogues appear in the same scene illustration.
Students review vocabulary from the “Words” section by finding it in the scene from Part A.
Also includes a listening test and phonics (alphabet) practice.

▼ C: The left page uses chants to reinforce grammar points.
The right page features real children from four different countries through photographs, leading into self-expression activities based on everyday themes.

The self-expression pages feature familiar, child-centered topics such as:
Unit 2 – My School(「私の学校」)
Unit 3 – My Friends(「私の友達」)
Unit 4 – My Textbook(「私の教科書」)
Unit 5 – My House(「私の家」)
Unit 6 – My Lunch(「私のランチ」)
Unit 7 – My Treasures(「私のたからもの」)
Unit 8 – My Favorite Animals(「私の大好きな動物」)
Unit 9 – My Family(「私の家族」)
Unit 10 – More About Myself(「私について」)

Each unit encourages students to reflect and express themselves by thinking, “What about me?” Click here for more details.

Q: My students love the green-covered READY for Learning World! At the beginning of each unit, we always enjoy using the scene illustrations to interact in English. By the way, on page 35 of the textbook, where did the cat get the fish? I’d love to tell my students. (From a teacher in Osaka)

A: That part is meant to spark imagination! Please feel free to explore it with your students—even in Japanese. Let their creativity shine and enjoy the discussion together.
— Comment by author Mikiko Nakamoto

As for the background, on page 34, a chef prepares fried fish. The cat is illustrated as having taken the fish from those ingredients.

On a side note, on page 34, a chef is preparing fried fish. The illustration was drawn with the idea that the cat took one of those fish as an ingredient.
